Our Plan

We have a 7-point plan to deliver improvements to Monmouthshire & Torfaen. Click on the below items to find out a bit more on each of our priorities in more detail and here you can also read updates on each campaign.

  • Declare a health emergency

Improve access to GP and dentist appointments, reduce waiting times for treatment and invest in our community hospitals.
  • Cutting the cost of living

Welsh Conservatives would cut the basic rate of income tax by 1p saving the average family £450 per year, keep council tax down, scrap business rates for small firms and reduce childcare costs by matching England giving 30 free hours for children over 9 months old.
  • Invest in infrastructure

Improve our roads, rail network, flood defences and broadband connectivity. Reverse the 20mph default speed limit, build the M4 relief road and Chepstow By-pass.
  • Support our schools

Under Labour, school budgets in Wales have been cut. The Welsh Conservatives would prioritise funding, restore school discipline and improve school attainment.
  • Back our farmers and protect the environment

We would support family farms and fight Labour’s inheritance tax proposals. We would tackle Bovine TB, excessive bureaucracy and oppose the installation of solar panels on
    prime agricultural land.
  • Cut wasteful spending

We would reverse Labour and Plaid’s decision to increase the number of politicians in Cardiff, saving taxpayers circa £20m each year, and we would cut wasteful departmental spending.
